TEMED acts along with APS. When 10% APS is added, it reacts with the protein degrading it producing free radicals. Thus initiating the reaction. And now, TEMED connects this free radicals produced with the monomers. Hence initating and catalysing the reaction by polymerization or solidification of acrylamide with Bis acrylamide in the presence of sulfur free radical (from APS)
